Established in 2010, the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department has become one of the most vibrant departments at the polytechnic. Our dedicated team of 18 registered trainers, including 3 women and 1 male technician, provides high-quality education and training in various electrical and electronics fields. We are proud to have trained over 1,000 electricians who are now contributing productively to society.
The department boasts five well-equipped workshops and a computer lab. Notably, two workshops feature cutting-edge solar photovoltaics and wind energy equipment, used to train technicians seeking EPRA licensing. We actively engage with industry experts through our Industry Advisory Committees, ensuring our curriculum remains relevant and effective.
International Partnerships and Achievements:
- KEFEP-02 (2017-2021): This government-funded project focused on renewable energy, leading to the development of Solar PV Level 4 and 5 curricula and state-of-the-art training equipment acquisition. KEFEP-02 also established a daycare facility for student mothers.
- Young Africa Works – Kenya (YAWK TVET 18): Launched in 2021, this ongoing project aims to introduce six new CBET courses to the department.
