A team of six Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) practitioners from Sigalagala National Polytechnic visited Amanda Resort, one of the leading hospitality establishments in Kakamega town and its environs, to conduct publicity and awareness creation on RPL matters.
The team comprised:
- Anne Naliaka Mutsami – State Department RPL Delivery Unit Master Trainer / Deputy Principal (Administration)
- Aggrey Madeshe Chanzu – RPL Coordinator / Head of Department, Mechanical and Automotive Engineering
- Edilita Kalewa Mugo – Deputy RPL Coordinator
- Caroline Imbosa Lilumbi – Head of Department, Hospitality and Tourism Management
- Collins Kiprotich Yegon – RPL Practitioner
- Ian Lumiti – RPL Practitioner
The practitioners represented diverse skill areas: Biomedical Sciences (Mrs. Mutsami), Mechanical Engineering (Mr. Chanzu), Medical Engineering (Ms. Mugo), and Hospitality (Mrs. Imbosa, Mr. Yegon, and Mr. Lumiti).
The team was warmly received by the Resort management, Mrs. Sarah Gesare Obino and Mr. Michael Mwenje, who expressed strong support for the RPL initiative. The management encouraged employees possessing informally or non‑formally acquired skills but lacking certification to enroll in the RPL programme.
The Sigalagala team successfully conducted publicity and awareness sessions for all employees of Amanda Resort. A total of thirty‑one (31) staff members completed Expression of Interest forms, marking a significant milestone in promoting RPL adoption within the hospitality sector.
Mbele Iko Sawa na RPL!
