The Building and Civil Engineering Department trains students on the principles of Building and Construction Management enabling them to offer products that meet the industry set quality standards to the market. The trainees in admitted into the department undertake vigorous practical and laboratory sessions on various disciplines of the construction industry to empower them with all rounded skills that are sought after in the market.

The role of the department in the institution is to coordinate trainers in performance of their duties and provision of learning tools and materials to trainers and trainees. The department also offers guidance and counselling to both learners and the departmental staff and holds consultative meetings to chart way forward on enhancement of trainee performance as well as coordinating the registration of student to various exam bodies to undertake their exams.
As a department we have partnered with various organisations including the Ministry of Roads and Public works. These partnerships give us access to various facilities and labs that enable us to deliver quality training.
As a department in consultations with SNP management we have embarked on a journey to improve quality of training through building rapport between trainers, trainees and management and increasing the number of tools and equipment required for training in the department.
SNP stands out as one of the oldest training institutions in the country that has grown the student numbers as well as machinery (tools and equipment). SNP also has competent and experience trainers and boasts of well-equipped labs and workshops where students undertake their practical lessons.
