The role of the Department of Agriculture is to impart knowledge and skills to trainees in the agriculture discipline and related areas; one of the ways we achieve this is through delivering practical session to the trainees at the institution’s farm and production of milk, poultry, fish and vegetables.
To achieve our planned departmental goals we have adopted a cordial engagement that foster inter-departmental relationships and team collaboration to encourage them to exploit their full potential and talent in matters agriculture.

The department of Agriculture has the capability to ignite the potential in our youth in agriculture related issues in order to boost food security in line with the Country’s Big Four Agenda
The departments achievements since inception have been the consistent production of honey which we harvest three times in a year, we also supply the college kitchen with milk and kales that is consumed within the institution as well as fish production which the department harvest biannually. The department of Agriculture has been the main supplier of poultry to the Food and Beverage Production unit, an achievement that we pride ourselves in.
Having recorded such great accomplishments, the department intends to set up two greenhouses by the end of 2020 to boost horticultural production and expose the trainees to practical sessions in the production of horticultural crops. We also have plans to set up a fertilizer production unit by the end of 2020; these activities shall help to boost boost trainee enrolment in Agriculture, while we establish a Centre of Excellence in Agricultural training of the youth within the region and to network with more Agricultural Institutions both locally and Internationally.
The department aspires to relate with students in a friendly and cordial manner to encourage them to exploit their full potential and talent in matters Agriculture and to make agriculture attractive to the youth, SNP is suitably positioned in a location that is easily accessible, has the best atmosphere and facilities that support technical training in a wide range of disciplines.
To achieve our planned departmental goals we have adopted a cordial engagement that foster sinter-departmental relationships and team collaboration that shall ensure the SNP emerges the best TVET Institution.
